Athens is in Georgia, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Traffic in Athens peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Iโ€™ve been a member of The Omni/Athens Health & Fitness since 2014, and Iโ€™ve seen four different owners during that time. The previous owner was, by far, the worst. Communication with members was almost nonexistent, whether it was about the water being shut off, the showers having little to no water pressure, or other important gym-related issues. The previous owner also failed to maintain the facility. Broken equipment often went unrepaired, machines werenโ€™t greased or properly maintained, and issues with the showers, sinks, toilets, and the steam room in the menโ€™s locker room were left unresolved. About two or three weeks ago, new ownership took over, and the difference has been incredible. The new owner has already made a noticeable impact by quickly repairing broken machines, replacing some with newer equipment, and addressing long-overdue maintenance in both locker rooms. Iโ€™m genuinely impressed with how much the new ownership has already improved the atmosphere of the gym in such a short time. It finally feels like the facility is being cared for again, and I canโ€™t wait to see the improvements that are still to come.

Overall, good gym equipment, though the experience is marred by poor facility maintenance (torn carpet, broken machines that don't get fixed, truly nasty men's locker room, broken-down steam room, nasty sauna, nasty showers, nasty toilets) some of which has to do with poor management, but more of which is about the personal habits of a probably small number of nasty gymrats. Most people who work out here seem to go about their business with a sense of decent consideration of others, but there is a small but significant minority of gymrats who refuse to clean up after themselves, refuse to clean their body fluids from the machines they use, and who camp out on equipment while gazing into their phone screens. Using the toilet facilities, one has the impression that there are visitors there who were not raised indoors and not by humans. Most of what's wrong with the place is because of the users, I think. Hell really is other people. Sigh.

This gym is absolutely has the best variety and most thorough selection of equipment I have seen period!! I have checked the newer gyms and they don't even come close! I have spent years in the gym and Athens health and fitness sets the standard for options free weights or machines they have it all . The staff is courteous as well. It's a larger gym and plenty of space even when it's busy. Love this place. Whoever originally set this gym up and chose the equipment absolutely new what they where doing period! Jonathan ayers

Iโ€™ve been going to this gym for a few years. I was a member when it was called Omni, but cancelled my membership after a year because it was too expensive. After about a year, Crunch opened, so I joined it because it was cheaper and people hadnโ€™t really caught on to it yet. Well, tons of people left Athens Health and Fitness to go to Crunch, so the crowd was now unbearable. So I left Crunch to go back to Athens Health and Fitness because AHF had now lowered the monthly rate to be competitive with Crunch. That lost in revenue, while trying to maintain the amenities is what I think contributed to what many guests complain about. Since rejoining AHF, the service and quality of the experience has declined. The gym has GREAT equipment and a ton of options (I would actually rate the equipment 4.5 out of 5), but the cleanliness and maintenance of the overall facility brings my overall rating down to 2 out of 5. The menโ€™s locker room is blazing in the warmer months, the showers have been being retiled for almost a year and a half, and the staff fails to perform basic actions to make the place presentable for guests. I often work out in the morning when the gym first opens. On numerous occa

Great gym. Everything you need weather your training just to train or getting ready for a show. I love all the accessorie machines they have and how big the gym is. They have a big room also for classes or workouts. There's also a women's only side and I've never seen that at a gym before. If your a bit insecure as a women you can simply stay on that side and we would never know you was even there. There's also a planet smoothie right inside the gym, which is perfect for after or before workouts. There's a boxing gym inside also but it does cost extra to go in the room. Best gym I've attended so far.
